Good to know

  • Gasóleo A is ordinary diesel for cars and vans (B7: up to 7% biodiesel).
  • E5 and E10 show the maximum share of ethanol in petrol: 5% or 10%. Most petrol cars built since 2011 can use E10; check the label inside the fuel filler flap or the owner’s manual.
  • 95 and 98 are octane ratings. Most cars run on 95; use 98 if the owner’s manual asks for it. Premium fuels have extra additives.
  • Gasóleo B is dyed, lower-tax diesel for farm, fishing and other authorised machinery. It must not be used in ordinary cars.
  • GLP is LPG (autogas), only for cars equipped for gas. Not every station sells it.
  • AdBlue is not a fuel: it is a urea solution for the exhaust system of modern diesel cars and lorries.
  • At many self-service stations you pay at the pump by card, or at the till before you fill up.
