Returning a hire car full to full

Most hire companies in Spain rent cars full to full: you collect the car with a full tank and must return it full. If the tank is not full, they charge for the missing fuel at their own price, usually well above the pump price, often with a refuelling fee.

Fill up at a station a few kilometres from the return point and keep the receipt: some companies ask for it. Stations right at the terminal are often the most expensive.
